Lesson 3
Experiment (Acceleration)
Calculate the speed of the robot in the AB and CD.
Also measure the time it takes to go from B to C.
What did you notice about the speed in AB as opposed to the speed in CD?
We say that the robot accelerated between AB and CD.
This acceleration can be calculated by using the formula:
(Speed in CD  Speed in AB) divided by (Time taken to go from B to C)
In other words:
acceleration(a)
=
New Speed(v)  Old Speed(u)
Time(t)
Calculate the acceleration of the robot using the values you
obtained from your measurements
Programming Note: The same set up as experiment 1 but the
power level must change when the robot passes B
